September 11 is the anniversary of the Chilean Military Coup in 1973. Today, while the American regime expresses its sorrow about reaping what it sowed, let us remember what they did to Chile. On this day, 50 years ago, the democratically elected Marxist president Salvador Allende, was overthrown by the murdering despot Augusto Pinochet with aid from the CIA. In his 17 year rule, tens of thousands of Chileans were tortured and murdered.

The US regime continues to deny involvement to this day, and details of what happened remain classified to this day. However, it is known that the CIA attempted to block Allende’s innauguration three years before, and were seeking to “Maximize pressures on the Allende government to prevent its consolidation and limit its ability to implement policies contrary to U.S. and hemisphere interests”. It was agreed that “A maximum effort” had been made with the kidnapping and murder of a key Chilean general.

Of course the corrupt US regime constantly crows about democracy and human rights. But where was this concern on this day in Chile? Or virtually any of the other socialist countries that the US has terrorised?
