I really didnt put all that thought into it when I posted this (certainly wasn’t looking to evangelize Rust). It was mildly amusing (memory safety came to mind) and I needed a title somewhat related to the meme was really all there was to it.

I think they understood “liberal” to mean “classical liberal” which obviously would have the issue they point out. But FT seems to be using “liberal” to mean “progressive” or something like that.

I meant that there is nothing inherent to dogs that makes them pets and not for eating, while livestock are for eating. They are both just animals, people should be consistent in either having empathy for all such animals or not at all.

I dont see any reason why you cant raise some livestock as pets. People already keep pigs as pets.

I didnt care for all the musicians and would instead watch regular people doing stuff or showing off parts of their lives, and get to occasionally ask them about their interests for example.
A chat with a tailor at work, someone showing off their farm, two random irish dudes in their living room, etc.
I dont think fast food works as a counter-example because it isnt addictive like cigarettes are. We can safely have butter, fast food and drinks like coke occasionally and just stop until the next time.
I imagine some addicts would continue to buy from the black market but most people probably will stop once the convenience of e.g getting it from the grocers no longer exists. Not to mention it would make it harder to become addicted to begin with.
If that’s what he’s doing, he still wont sink money into Twitter forever.
