I’ve tried to use it to ask for help on a couple of other open source projects and I thought that I was using it in the wrong way, that I was missing something. So…I was not! I don’t understand how people could use it for support. Guys talking over each other, questions mixed and lost between other people’s chats, terrible!

I haven’t tried it, but having tried Perplexity, I can say that it’s difficult to have something that’s worse than it!
I’ll have a look at it. In the meanwhile, I’ve been using Tasker for that: if an SMS from curtains numbers is received with the text “POSITION”, it will reply back with an OpenStreetMap link of the smartphone position.

I don’t know how that Synology DS423+ could consume 50W idle. It seems veeery strange to me. I mean, my E5-2620 V2 on a 10/15 years old Supermicro motherboard with 16GB of RAM, 4 idle SATA 3,5" hard drives and 2 SSD is consuming 55W! Something doesn’t sound right to me.

Totally agree! 2FA on all the accounts that support it avoiding SMS. And different passwords (complex, auto generated by a password manager) for each single account. I may be paranoid, but I also use a different email alias (SimpleLogin) for every single account! 😆
I self host a lot of services, but I will never self host my email server If any of my self hosted service would have to go down, I will work on it as soon as I can, but it coudl that it’s not that soon. If I would have self hosted my own email server at it would go down, I would have to work on it straight away because usually after 24/48 hours the other email server give up and send back the email (that was directed to me) to the sender, I could not receive airplane ticket for example and a lot of other stuff. What if that would happen when I’m on holiday in the other side of the world??? 🙈
For what I use it, I’ll stick with it. I should be using it more, but I’m too lazy! 🙈😆

100TB??? What the heck did you store in there? A lot of “Linux ISOs”, ok, I get it, but how many GB is each? Some may be 10/20GB, but I guess that most of them are about 2/4GB. Some images of old drives, ok (some TB), and then?
Although your ISP was kind enough to run this fibre for you, the price of 30 meters LC/UPC terminated fibre isn’t terribly excessive (at least here in USA), so would it be possible to use their fibre as a pull-string to run new fibre instead? That would avoid all the adapters, although you’d have to be handy and careful with the pull forces allowed on a fibre.
The problem is the installation of the connectors. They’ve welded the fiber the SC/APC pigtails, I wouldn’t be able to do that.
The big manufacturers (Cisco, HPE/Aruba, etc) will have detailed spec sheets, so you can find the branded one that works for you. And then you can cross-reference that to cheaper, generic, compatible xcvrs.
That would be very very generous of you; in the fiber section I’m pretty ignorant and I’m worried to purchase wrong items 🙈

To the ONT arrives a single fiber with a SC/APC connector, but this is not a problem since I will be using the ONT provided and use the 2,5Gb copper port to connect it to OPNsense (looking for a 2,5 Gb PCI card). The 2 fiber that I’ve asked them to run (from OPNsense to server) are terminated with the same SC/APC connectors and I was thinking about using this SC female/female adapter and this SC/APC to LC cable that I’ve just realized that are still APC…I’ll have a look if there are SC/APC to LC/UPC cables
As for that xcvr, please note that it’s an LRM, or Long Range Multimode xcvr. Would it probably work at 30 meters? Probably. But an LR xcvr that is single mode 1310 nm would be ideal.
Is it a LRM? Damn, I didn’t realized since I’ve filtered for single mode. If the filter doesn’t work, I’ve no idea which is LR. Would you be so gentle to point to a cheap one for single mode finer?
