That’s because the US enacted a law called the Wolf Amendment in 2011, which prevents NASA from using government funds to cooperate directly with China.

+Roquefort gang.
Hi there! I’m you. My first computer was a TRS-80 in the early 80s, and my daily driver today is Debian (a flavor of Linux). I’m not an IT person, but I’ve had some skin in the game for a while.
You won’t need to purchase a thing unless you have some weird/old hardware where drivers will be a challenge.
There are a million flavors (“distros”) of Linux. The most straightforward ones to start with are probably Ubuntu and Mint.
Most Linux distros have a “live CD” version that you can “install” on a thumb drive. That allows you to take the entire OS for a test spin without changing anything on your “main” computer.
I’ve been beating this drum for years, but Autoduel as a MMORPG.
d’oh, thanks op.
Dang, here I was getting excited about hearing an Air Supply song that I hadn’t heard before.
Good stuff though, thanks for posting, OP.
The legend of scarabic lives on.
Fuck that guy.
Go Birds.
Great growth so far. How does this compare to Reddit?
In 2020 their year-over-year growth was around 50%, or roughly 4% per month. (source)
Yeah man, dude balled out for us, and seemed like a great fit with the team culture. I was bummed they couldn’t come to terms.
Serious question, what are we looking at and/or being mildly infuriated about here?
This is a reply to a comment! OP should proballey NOT be receiving this.
Go team Mlem!
And this is a reply to a reply to a message that’s part of a deluge. Since I’m pinging @mlemdevalt, s/he probally SHOULD get notified of this one.

I think they’re “communities” here?
Do moderators have the ability to “require approval” for new subscribers? I’d assumed that “pending” meant that someone had to “let me in” because that’s how they chose to run their corner of the internet (which is great).
Is it actually just lag/a tech issue?
Can’t decide which I prefer at this point.
But they’re basically interoperable, yes?
So far I miss being able to see a graphic associated with links I post
haha, my first post here I tried to post both a URL and an image, so it looked like I made a post that consisted solely of the defector.com logo. :/
In retrospect, it’s kind of shocking how many obviously wrong turns I had to make for that to happen.
I’m sure the folks who know this stuff better than I are already exploring it, but I imagine that PixelFed integration would be relatively straightforward.
Exciting times!
A thousand times this!
In the meantime, if someone could post a quick walkthrough on how to easily get from
Point A: A link that looks like “https://sopuli.xyz/c/homebrewing”
to
Point B: Community page is opened natively in Jerboa, by way of ‘my’ instance, with the ‘subscribe’ option close at hand.
I’d be A-OK with more Oglaf – thanks for posting this!
Folks should be aware that it can run NSFW at times.
