1 year ago@DoiDoi It’s exactly how it was taught to them. “Thinking other races aren’t as good as yours,” legitimizing both race & false equivalency in a breath, was explicitly taught in every formal setting basically through college for me. Often no countermessaging until teens or later, though I hope (& think the right wing panic about perhaps credits) the internet offers some hope that they’ll get more stories than the “official” status-quo-serving properly-racist one at younger ages.

There’s a world of difference between napping in the crosswalk and needing to use it to get to work, but when there’s social license for drunk drivers, you don’t have to be lingering there to get hit.
