My question with a general strike is “then what?” Less than 10% of the US population is unionized and while it would be incredibly disruptive and visible…say we do it. Then what? Are we organizing these unions into structures that can act as a transformational force on society or are we going to just try and get some modest improvements in society without substantively challenging the powers that be? How do we stop this bullshit with ICE from happening again? How do we ensure any gains aren’t immediately infringed upon and gradually taken back?
