We’ve removed critical functionality from the operating system because our boss didn’t want more than 6 buttons on screen at any time. Sorry the system is 100x more difficult to use!

This is the thing I’ll never understand about the modern streaming industry’s focus on watchtime and second-screen content.
Like, guys, spending your budget on a thing I am actively NOT engaged with as a consumer is not going to help your brand. Y’all got big on prestige TV, and the kind of shows where I go “Oh this looks really good, gonna make sure it’s on my watchlist”. That way I’m never gonna unsub as long as I have a watchlist, the actual hours spent on platform doesn’t matter.
They were told the risks of pinning their entire political strategy and identity on one septuagenarian gameshow host, and did it anyway
Yes, there is absolutely a sampling bias here
For a basement with a 5-inch slab and exterior walls are 8 inches, 8ft high and also concrete… Then 45 cubic meters is about what you’d need.
Of course, your basement walls are about as electrically grounded as it gets, so I doubt you’d be able to store power in them. One leak and you’re discharging all that power into the groundwater.
Sure… But it’s a DIFFERENT TEST, on a different population of people, with the goal of measuring military-specific factors.
This is a myth. There IS a test, called the “Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)”, which is a competency test to see what jobs you would be suited for, but that is NOT an IQ test.
Sure, if you score badly on that test you will LIKELY have a low score on an IQ test, probably because something like 40% of American adults are illiterate or have low-literacy and that would impact your ability to do any test.
But the military does not IQ test.
My first thought was this was a punk thing, like, if you want to think of yourself as a bit rebellious you can buy the American phone instead of the phone made by the company that owns your nation.
The people seeing furry porn are based in Lemmy.world or Lemmy.nsfw
Your instance, lemmy.ee, doesn’t subscribe you to porn by default.
Depends on your Instance looks like the defaults on lemmy.zip don’t include much porn, so if you want it you gotta add it. My home instance is also pretty SFW as well.
I absolutely adore my Subaru CVT. The only things I dislike about it are how it has a bunch of fake crap to act more like a manual transmission.
I want my car to always be at peak power band when I stomp the pedal, CVT can do that and other transmissions can’t.
That and market share. Between 2007 and now, a website could reliably grow as new people got connected to the internet and as internet usage naturally grew. Up till recently, a large proportion of people either didn’t use the internet at all, or had the internet, but didn’t use much. Prior to 2020 I knew lots of friends and family who simply did not own a home computer or maybe had like one laptop for the whole family (and a bunch of phones).
During that era, the attention was all on getting new users in the door. Make a good, cheap/free product, and people will come.
But NOW, most people already are using the internet like 14+ hours a day and have become full netizens. If companies want to keep growing, they can’t rely on new blood, they need to pivot to harvesting more from the people they already have.
New reddit crops images that it displays, so you typically had to click on images anyways, though
The Walgreens closures in San Fran were not due to theft. That’s a lie. The theft rates in the closed stores were low, and the closures were planned well before the pandemic.
Some More News covered this well. https://youtu.be/Yq9lgpJbNns?t=419
If they just SAID the scent, then the marketing teams would have nothing to do!
No, you can’t say “Vertiver and Ylang-Ylang” you have to say “Ocean Breeze”, you can’t say “Cedar, Sage, and Bergamot”, you need to say “WOODSMAN MASCULINE TESTOSTERONE”
This bugs me. All these fucking fishers are like “My family has been fishing for thousands of years, how dare you take away my way of life”.
It’s like, oh? Really? Your parents in their medieval ship were doing industrial-scale trawling?
Ditto with farmers. I simply do not believe you when you say that highly mechanized mass agriculture with heavy overuse of modern fertilizers is something that’s been in your family for tens of generations. Fuck outta here.
FuckCars is not about BEING carfree, it’s about realizing that you’re FORCED to have a car, to pay $10,000 per year to own that car, to breathe in the pollution from the roads, to risk your life on the road, and how bad that sucks.
Well, the rural driver may also run into traffic in the form of cows/sheep on the road, so there’s that.
He’s like the third guy to do this in a year, big money doesn’t want you to know about it
