I think top comment is a reference of some kind.
I heard something similar; the studio didn’t think the movie would be popular if they used too many computer terms so they made them change the function to “battery”. Initially the reason Neo has powers is because his node happens to have admin access.
Easy! You just ignore one of the above responsibilities, bing bang boom!
Jokes aside, it’s just like any other hobby. If you enjoy it enough, you make time for it. Or in some cases, put it on in the background while doing something else, though that depends what kind of watcher you are.
Either way, ITT: it’s valid to have hobbies other than media consumption
I watched two episodes of LOST and then I LOST interest. That said, from everything I hear, it kind of seems like the appeal would have been to be part of the speculation crowd.
That aside, I’m not sorry I missed it.
But was this a joke or merely observation? In the just the way you’re pointing out a problem in something that was not intended to be a problem, this may have been the same.
I don’t know if “miss” is the right word, but I feel deeply that this is a picture I would have seen on babiestrappedinknees
Replika is probably what you’re thinking of. It was nice when it started, sort of like a journaling app in a way but which could return insights. Then it started getting monetized, of course.
I’ll be honest, for a minute I thought it was not a flaw but referring to “Monday Me, on Monday” which is a concept I can relate to
I love this idea. Unfortunately, I think it’s just a slightly unnatural vocal performance. Even though AI can perfectly replicate voices tonally, they can’t truly generate the same cadence and inflections, or sometimes even get close without a good deal of human assistance. I suspect this will change over time. As with ChatGPT, we’ll be looking to AI to solve the problem of AI mimicking humans too well.
There is a single precedent I can think of, which is that with some regularity I see infants/newborns referred to as “it”.
Maybe I started watching late but Weissman always kind of struck me as trying too hard on the comedy bits, but I don’t mind because it is good knowledge nonetheless. My biggest issue is that he’s a little on the pretentious side and he occasionally uses fancy/expensive/inaccessible ingredients or tools, but that’s really just a personal problem for me.
I don’t watch his current content but it was bittersweet seeing the transition from his original style. He mentioned at the time that he had depression during that period and it seemed like the change was a lifestyle one as well; he seemed pretty happy around that time.
I don’t think it’s just a feeling of futility - it’s true phones can be distracting and offer more potential entertainment, and it’s true learning can sometimes be a slog. At the same time, learning can be fun and engaging, and phones can offer access to a wealth of information (of highly varying quality, admittedly).
Concentrating too hard on mere academic success as gauged by metrics like school grades is undoubtedly discouraging for a student who only goes to school if they are told they must.
I saw an interesting post somewhere recently where they argued that Sniper Elite was not anti Nazi because it specifically promotes stealth and non lethal methods (against Nazis). Couldn’t say much for sure myself; I tried playing 4 a little but it didn’t grab me at the time.
Three hours a day, gods above. I admire your commitment
Essentially true but thoroughly reductive. Like saying “live music is all about saying look at me play all these notes”
I think legal semantics might just be beside the point. I believe she knew the possibility was there and accepted it, but the answer she was looking for is “how far does it go” when a person essentially publicly forfeits their rights. Blanket consent, the forfeiture of those rights, they don’t fundamentally change that this is a person.
I was a little drunk and I think bougie was probably not the right word choice. The sentiment was more meant to be something along the lines of exclusive or supercilious. Upon reflection I may just not be in on the joke.
Sometimes I think this community and instance might have some interesting views I can maybe learn from and about and sometimes, it’s just… I don’t know, like some kind of bougie fucking club for the self described intelligentsia
I’m afraid all we can say for sure is that it’s not a caterpillar.
