Avid Clemson fan. Go Tigers!
It would be so much better if I could just block an instance called “Lemmy.sports”.
Ironically, I’m part of a sports-only instance. I’m not sure if you can block an instance as a user, but hopefully one day we can emerge as a predominant sports instance and you can just block us, thereby eliminating most sports-related posts from your feed. Good luck with this issue, and sorry in advance for all the individual sport/team posts you will see from us in the future.
Gotta say I’m not a huge fan of the developing Clemson-Tennessee relationship.
I, for one, welcome our new Braves overlords.
This is the kind of quality rivalry post I’ve missed seeing.
The darkest timeline.
This is a good point. I always just use the Lemmy auto-title but posting in the style of r/cfb is more informative. I’ll try to keep this advice in mind for future posts.
Done.

I don’t know much about O’Connell but it’s always good to see another Tiger commitment.
Also, search is weird on Lemmy. If no one on your instance has looked up the specific community then you won’t find it in search. The entire url has to be searched by someone on your instance before it will show up in a keyword search. Part of the growing pains of Lemmy and a big reason why there are several duplicate communities across instances.
If you make a comment or post on that community I’ll make you a mod.
I also do have a Miami community on the sports-focused instance that I am a part of. Feel free to crosspost over there as well (or I can make you a mod there too if you want).

Hey listen, I almost didn’t even make the community. It really was the last one I did and I definitely thought about using a worse logo or setting up the name as “uofscshamecocks” or something.
But I just used official UofSC branding provided by the school, so really no one can get mad at that, right?
[Seriously, some Gamecock fan out there please take this community off my hands]
I typically take a trip to Kauai every other year. I’ve not yet done a helicopter tour but this photo makes me want to do one the next time that I’m on island. Beautiful!
Four-star EDGE Darien Mayo of Olney (MD) Good Counsel announced his commitment to Clemson Thursday evening.
The 6-foot-7, 255 pounder chose the Tigers over Ohio State, USC, and Michigan.
What I’ve been doing just to try and grow sports discussion on Lemmy as a whole is crossposting any of our posts into a corresponding community on a different instance and vice versa. Example, I’ve crossposted the Giants schedule from !nygiants@lemmy.world into our NY Giants community. I’m not hoping for any particular community to be the premier community for a sport/team, I just want to increase the chances that new users can find a community that gets them the content that they are looking for. We have gotten several users from other instances in the past few days so I think the concept is working!
I joined Reddit to follow college football, and I’m hoping to help grow Lemmy enough to have quality discussions here as well.
I do think there is some kind of federation lag happening. I’ve also tried searching various fanaticus.social communities from other instances and they also won’t show up. I’ll look into this and see if there’s anything I can do to get these visible.
I don’t know if you would be interested, but the instance that I am on is focused on general sports discussion and has an NBA Community (albeit inactive at the moment). Feel free to crosspost some NBA/Pacers stuff over there and maybe we can boost some basketball conversation. Good luck with growing your community!
As the founder and main mod of /c/cfb@fanaticus.social, if anyone here wants to be a mod over there just let me know. I’m not sure if the Lemmy.world users know this but our instance was blocked for about three-four weeks by the Lemmy.world admins which is why users on this instance were unable to see our posts for awhile. Our main admin was able to get this resolved so we are federated again (thankfully). I also have over a hundred individual team communities that need mods so please feel free to ask to take over those communities!
I’m trying to work on adding a CFB bot to the existing redball bots (https://github.com/benja810/redball/tree/lemmy-nfl) so if anyone is familiar with CFB API and is willing to help us out, let me know. I hope to see everyone over there and I will keep coming over here as well to see what’s going on!
