  • Never expect anyone to have convictions, or to ever stand for anything, especially not on Reddit. Most people, especially on there, are mindless consumerist drones who are all talk no walk. I don’t say that to be mean, I say it as a fact. Look at what happened with the Netflix password sharing situation: more sign ups than they’ve seen before despite an objectively shittier experience. These people don’t care about anything outside of their little comforts, and they feel intimidated and threatened by anyone who does.

    Just leave it behind. Treat the Fediverse as a brand new fun lil thing. Some will move over, most will stay on Reddit. It was never going to go any other way, and thinking it was/will is just going to set you up for disappointment.

    Lemmy is cool, this technology is cool, and we don’t need them.
