Suwayomi still exists but it relies on Tachiyomi extensions so I don’t know how useful it’s going to be going forward.

It’s just a preference thing i guess. I basically exclusively watch shows over movies (asian dramas) because I enjoy following a single story line over multiple weeks/months. But at the same time, I don’t really watch shows that often either so I can relate to people asking me what I do in my free time…

They are great, I use them over the native package whenever I can on Fedora Workstation. Can’t say I’ve had any issues with them in recent years.

I’m not sure, sorry… I know some people that used google maps with a VPN but it was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of usefulness.

• Get a VPN (I can personally recommend LetsVPN or Astril, both are good) or if you get a HK sim, an esim like holafly, or a roaming plan for your current sim you should be able to use your data without being subject to the great firewall
• If you have an iPhone then apple maps is pretty decent, Baidu maps is better but in chinese only afaik
• Get a payment app. I used Alipay as it accepts overseas cards but I think WeChat accepts them now too.
• Download WeChat anyways because its so useful and you never know when you might want to add someone
• Make use of the conversation feature on google translate and make sure to download the language packs in case you don’t have internet for whatever reason
