First Secretary of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Maxim Amelin:

Historical justice has triumphed: the Lenin monument has returned to its square in Orenburg! Comrades! Today, a historic event took place in Orenburg—one of the first monuments to Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, erected back in 1925, has returned to Lenin Square after seven years of absence.

This monument is more than just a monument. It is a part of our history, a symbol of an era, and the embodiment of our people’s memory. Its removal in 2018 was a painful wound for all who honor our historical heritage and fight for justice.

I’d like to point out that this victory is the result of years of persistent struggle. Since 2018, the Orenburg branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, communist deputies, activists, historians, and thousands of concerned Orenburg residents have been working tirelessly. We submitted appeals, sought an inspection of the monument’s condition, and kept the issue in the news. The persistence of bloggers like Vladimir Berebin played a particularly important role.

It was this unity and persistence that ultimately forced the authorities to listen to the voice of the people! The return of the monument is a triumph of historical truth and confirmation that the people’s will is invincible!
