On November 7, Astrakhan communists held a motor rally through the streets of the regional center, laid flowers at the monument to V.I. Lenin in the city’s central square, and unveiled a monument to I.V. Stalin at the entrance to the shipyard that formerly bore his name.
The monument to I.V. Stalin was erected by members of the Astrakhan regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in consultation with local authorities and local government. Previously, a monument to V.I. Lenin stood at the entrance to the ASPO plant (formerly I.V. Stalin’s plant), but it was destroyed by unknown persons (according to law enforcement, it collapsed on its own) in 2023. After numerous appeals from the communists, the city and regional administrations agreed to install a bust of I.V. Stalin, which had previously been located in the regional party committee building, at this location. Work on the monument’s installation lasted from June to November.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by S.V. Sevastyanov, First Secretary of the Astrakhan Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation; G.K. Netreba, member of the Union of Soviet Officers; and V.Yu. Nemchinov, member of the Russian Military Historical Society. All speakers were unanimous in their assessment of I.V. Stalin’s outstanding role in Russian history, emphasizing the need to restore historical justice and preserve historical memory.
Flowers were solemnly laid at the monument to I.V. Stalin.
At V.I. Lenin Square—a traditional meeting place for communists—party cards were ceremoniously presented to comrades who had recently joined the ranks of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. First Secretary of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation S.V. Sevastyanov and the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation faction in the Astrakhan Regional Duma T.A. Teteryatnikova addressed the gathering.
Flowers were solemnly laid at the foot of the monument to the leader of the world proletariat.
Events dedicated to the 108th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution were also held in the region’s districts.
