A delegation from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) arrived in Beijing to strengthen interparty ties. At the airport, the Russian communists were warmly welcomed by comrades from the International Cooperation Department of the CPC Central Committee, led by Wang Yue, head of the Russian Affairs Sector of the Eurasian Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the CPC Central Committee. This underscored the hospitality and high level of trust between the parties.
On the very first day, the delegation, accompanied by Zhu Xiaoshu, head of the Comprehensive Affairs Sector of the Eurasian Affairs Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, visited one of the symbols of Chinese civilization—the Great Wall of China, the Juyongguan section. This site, historically a defense against external threats and an important communications hub, became the symbolic beginning of the program, marking the strength and continuity of the Russian-Chinese strategic partnership.
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) delegation’s visit coincided with a significant domestic political event in China. Today, October 20, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee opened in Beijing. It will run until October 23. General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a work report on behalf of the Politburo and explained the draft proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan for Socioeconomic Development. This comprehensive program will outline the key directions for the country’s development over the next five years—from 2026 to 2030. Proposals for this plan will be released after the plenary session, and its final version is expected to be presented in March of next year, when it will be reviewed and approved by the National People’s Congress.
The delegation, consisting of members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, heads of regional branches of the party and heads of factions of regional parliaments, is headed by Viktor Tsarikhin, a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and First Secretary of the Committee of the Moscow City Branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
Recently, together with you, we celebrated a great anniversary—the 80th anniversary of our shared victory over militaristic Japan, the Victory in World War II. The Soviet Union and China suffered more losses in this war, driven by imperialist aggression, than any other country. The combined human losses of fascism and militarism in our two countries exceed those of the rest of the world combined, numbering in the tens of millions, the majority of them civilians.
The communists played the most crucial role in defeating the fascist aggression. The Soviet Union was able to rapidly mobilize its economy by implementing Lenin-Stalin industrialization and collectivization, restoring industry after the catastrophic consequences of World War I and the Civil War. Despite the difficult situation they found themselves in, the Chinese communists became the most important force in developing guerrilla warfare and mobilizing the masses.
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Andreevich Zyuganov recently recalled that it was the energetic actions of the armies of the Soviet Union, China, and the DPRK that ensured the defeat of the Kwantung Army, which led to the end of World War II.
The Victory Parade, which recently took place in Beijing and received the highest praise from progressives around the world, became a symbol of our common struggle against the invaders. China has once again confirmed that today it is the forerunner of the anti-imperialist struggle and the building of communism, preserving the historical memory of its people.
In a conversation with Russian journalists, Gennady Andreyevich Zyuganov, Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Central Committee, made no secret of his admiration for the historic parade in the Chinese capital. “The parade is magnificent; the planet hasn’t seen such a parade—massive, energetic, and modern—for a long time,” Zyuganov remarked. Having visited China many times, the CPRF Central Committee Chairman tirelessly emphasizes the enormous effectiveness and appeal of China’s policies, which adhere to the principles of Marxism-Leninism.
We remember and appreciate what President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China said on the opening day of the 20th CPC National Congress: “Practice shows us that the success of the CPC and the advantages of socialism with Chinese characteristics ultimately lie in the fruitfulness of Marxism and the fruitfulness of a Sinicized and modernized Marxism. Marxism is the fundamental guiding ideology that underlies our Party and state and ensures their prosperity and strength.”
The delegation members are confident that the busy schedule of their visit will allow them to once again be convinced of the truth of these statements and the correctness of the socialist path of development chosen by the Chinese people.
