Everyone seemed confused by this question… They reeeaaally wanted to know of there were any parades they would ‘boycott’.
Last week, October 13 was planned to be a NYC Columbus Day parade. I think that the question was in reference to that. Immediately after the parade question, Cuomo and Sliwa said that Zohran would remove Christopher Columbus statues.
Italian right wingers have made up a persecution fantasy that recognizing Christopher Columbus as a colonizer is discrimination against Italian people.
They were trying to bait Zohran into saying that he supports Indigenous Peoples’ Day. They wanted to portray Zohran as a woke scold to appeal to reactionary voters.
take down columbus statues put up luigi statues (yes i know he’s problematic, it’s still an improvement)
Oh shit I totally forgot about the Italians and Columbo Day 🫠. They were taking over each other and I was only half listening. That’s an even more outlandish question. My state changed it to Indigenous People’s Day a few years ago lol.
I guess I answered my own question: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrate_Israel_Parade
Lol even Cuomo was like “eehh I’m not goin to parades, I don’t even know what parades happen every year”.
What a joke of a question, if you even mildly stand against Israel (no struggle sessions pls, you know what I mean by that) they reaaaaaally need to scrape the sides of the jar to find something to hit you with (presuming you aren’t an anti-israel white nationalist)
the interview questions and formatting were designed to use Israel as a wedge against Zohrans support for sure. One of the first questions asked was about anti semitism/zionism in New York instead of anything like affordability. It felt like every 3rd question was designed and phrased to make it easier for Zohran’s opponents to attack him and it did not work at all
Yeah I didn’t catch it from the start but that’s what I assumed was happening. I saw his Fox News interview from before the debate and they grilled him in the same way but he was pretty good about trying to bring it back to affordability. By the end it was almost a neutral interview. Its gotta be hard to argue with the guy when your line of attack is “crime is out of control, the city is unaffordable” and he comes back with actual plans for those issues. They really are pushing the Israel plot line hard across all of mainstream media with him, and I think its because he keeps talking about the issues. They want to distract away to unrelated things that people are highly emotionally invested in. The tactic is pretty clear. Its the same reason CNN is dragging out planters old reddit comments. They want to distract from the issues he’s talking about.
