Also has anyone seen the live-action film? Recently a friend and I watched it and the OVA series together. I was expecting the live-action film to be awful, but it was tolerable. Still not great, but as far as a Hollywood-ified film of a manga/anime thing, it felt fairly understanding of the appeal of anime. Still not sure how I feel about Alita’s character having CG-ed eyes while no other characters received the same treatment.

I still haven’t watched the live-action GITS film and I don’t know if I ever will. That seems like something that would be even easier to mess up even though it has the potential to be better than Alita did/does.

I’ve seen the movie and felt pretty good about it. Like… It’s not the best thing ever but it’s kinda good and different, it actually stands out as a creative piece that takes risks in an industry of zero risk taking at all where there’s no diversion from tried and true content. The eyes are odd. But it grew on me throughout.
