I think there’s two factors here: first, Hochul is being opportunistic and wants to be associated with the winning team rather than the leftovers. Second, it’s probably going to be a lot easier for her to work with Mamdani than Cuomo. Cuomo would give her absolutely no respect and would turn every one of his political connections on her if she disagreed with him. Whereas Mamdani needs to go through Albany to get his proposed tax hikes through.

i’d say he’s afraid of the NYPD (legitimately) and of the democratic party (maybe not legitimately) but that doesn’t make as good of an endorsement speech
