Even the US was better about housing when the USSR existed. The gov housing in my hometown got demolished in the 90s and was never replaced with anything. I’m not sure what happened to the “gotta keep up with the commies” attitude in US gov, but they definitely don’t give a fuck anymore. China will have teleporters or some shit and we’ll still be driving 10 miles to the nearest grocery store.
