I can play with both Controller and Mouse&Keyboard but I’m kinda bias towards M&K since that’s what I started with, even though I always play 3rd person games (even 3rd person shooters) on PC with a Controller and I still like using it for Genshin but for some reason it feels a little off for me, what about you?
I’ve always been a mouse+keyboard gamer, so using that for Genshin too :)
Out of curiosity I tried playing Genshin on mobile and on PC with controller, but found the lack of mouse camera rotation really annoying.
Controller. It’s more comfortable to be.
Definitely M&K. I’ve tried a controller dozens of times, but it always ends in frustration as I can’t respond nowhere near as fast with it.
I understand, I also struggled when I first used a controller too, but eventually you’ll get used to it. I don’t know about you but being able to shoot a ruin guard and hunter’s weak spot everytime with a controller feels great for me.
try changing the control mappings a bit so find the layout that fits you, you don’t have stuck with the default
M&K
Mouse and keyboard. I have never owned a controller my entire life.
I tend to switch between PC and PS5 a lot so I just use the controller for the sake of consistency.
do you keep the default mapping? I changed it multiple times until I managed to settle on the layout that is perfect for me, I play Dark Souls a lot so not having dodge on B/O really funk me up
I do, but I have an 8BitDo Pro that has back buttons that I use on PC and I’ve also modded my DualSense controller to have back buttons so that makes the default layout feel a lot better for me.
Just editing to add real quick: The lack of gyro aiming is far and away my biggest frustration though and is something I nag for in every single survey possible.
I started with controller and just can’t switch to M&K without it feeling weird.
Mouse + Keyboard here. Couldn’t imagine trying to play as Ganyu, Nahida, or Tighnari without M+KB.
it’s not that bad once you get used to it. My tip: Strafe to micro-adjust and only aim once the camera is pointed in the general direction of where you want to shoot. It takes some time to get used to but it’s not that hard.
As for quick flicks, I just get out of aim mode, move the camera then aim again, it doesn’t work for Nahida and you have to get out of aim mode, not to mention you can easily over or undershoot even when not moving around so you have to practice a lot.
Controller, except when I have to fight MF aeonblight drake.
I do play with a controller (Steam Deck) often, but K&M is king for me. I can’t imagine clearing the current abyss on anything but K&M. The convenience of mouse look and the responsiveness of keyboard movement are awesome. On a side note, the Steam Deck’s grip buttons are very nice, enabling character switching without letting go of the left stick, and the touch screen comes in handy for menuing and actions such as gadget use.
KB+M on low sens.
The flying robot bird was a bit rough this time with 4 shot armor haha.
Otherwise, very easy to control.Controller, for me 3rd person games are controller games and first person games are kbm games
Since my main is FPS game, I always play with mouse & keyboard for maximum movement accuracy. Aiming Nahida skill or charge attack with bow must be dificult for console and mobile players.
I also play FPS a lot and I can only use M&K for that. But for 3rd person games, it feels alien for me to not use a controller, even for 3rd person shooters
mouse and keyboard since i can change the layout of keybindings to be more comfortable
you can change the layout for the controller too. The default layout feels really odd, and I play Dark Souls a lot so not having dodge on B/Circle really funk me up.
I also play Kingdom Hearts and even though it doesn’t have dodge on B/Circle, it still feels great, Genshin’s default control is similar to KH’s but I don’t know why it doesn’t work for me.
