America used to be a place you could come to work to be able to support yourself and your family.

Looking back over the last quarter century it seems to me that we’re seeing a reversal of this trend. American born citizens so overburdened by the failures of their country that they dream of moving somewhere they can support themselves, and maybe finally begin to live their lives.

What are your thoughts?

Yepp :). Agree w/ you 100%. Our stupidly racist immigration policies are almost the entire reason we get 0 intelligent emmigrants and nobody wants to take USA citizens. Sub-quality education, social upbrining, etc.

I wouldn’t say they’re not intelligent. The problem is immigrants coming here are doing so for two reasons. It’s either better for them personally or they’re trying to join a family member. With our declining standard of living that’s going to make professionals a lot less likely to want to come work here. We haven’t seen the effect there yet because so many people have been waiting so long to get residency and they still have an idea of the US from the 1990’s. But as that runs down and word gets out things will slowly change.
