Apparently there’s an issue with some instances banning users for criticizing authoritarian governments. Is lemmy.world a safe place to criticize governments?

I doubt amy such photos exist either. If they did, surely Le Redditors would post those on the front page rather than those of wrecked bicycles or a man unharmed by a tank. Let me know if you find these photos instead of just reveling in fond memories of them.

I tried but I couldn’t find them. Since you were so sure you hadn’t dreamt them up and are not perpetuating folklores in the age of informarion I asked for your help. But if you are not willing to substantiate your very serious claims I understand.

The cruel irony is that, in terms of real photos of the incident and not maliciously misattributed ones, they might be thinking of the photos of soldiers killed by militants.

But the pictures of maimed and burnt bodies definitely exist.

The photos of immolated and hanged bodies are of soldiers killed around the night of June 3rd. You can tell because there are a bunch of idle civilian onlookers (and after the area was cleared the bodies were taken down, so it could not have happened during or after the clearing).

I will believe you, but usually people don’t simply “misremember” seeing footage of someone being crushed to death, so I hope you can see why my initial conclusion was what it was.

As I said in my other comment, some photos are of soldiers who were killed and I’ve seen Reddit misattribute or misrepresent photos and videos before when it comes to atrocity propaganda against socialist states. That said, I haven’t seen what pictures Reddit uses for evidence, so I can’t tell you about the other cases (and would need to research it anyway if I was given a picture, counterfactually speaking).

A number of people did die, including innocent protestors caught in the crossfire, though it would perhaps be more accurate to say they were driven into the crossfire by student leaders like Chai Ling who were deliberately seeking to cause her own followers to shed blood for the media benefit, by her own admission!

The first link on my comment on my alt here is footage of interviews with some student leaders. You probably want to avoid the last link because it has some gruesome pictures (I marked it with a warning) but none of the others have images like that.
