The American libs I know have acted like this is literally the worst thing in the history of mankind, but their only real worries are things like “Trump will be a bad president” and “The rest of the world will see us as idiots and morons.” Just 100% pure vibes based, no actual worries about material conditions or negative affects on minorities, just pure “he makes us look bad” civility.
I think that’s just a liberal thing tho. My coworker is 2nd generation migrant from Turkey and when Erdogan was reelected last time, she went around saying “what will europe and the europeans think of us, that we’re some kind of backwards inbreds?”. I tried to tell her, that white europeans already think that anyway, and changing a conservative leader for a progressive one isn’t going to change that, but I got kind of shouted down by the other people at our office (who were all white)
My mom is exactly this. She proclaims the world will never forgive us. I tell her, we’re funding a genocide. And her answer is, yeah… but still, Trump is disgusting.
