I think Civ easily takes the cake for “cursed” historical combos. Hearts of Iron can be pretty silly but Civ is just pure, ahistorical “tile” strategy.
I considered a Stalin mod for Russia and then I considered the “ah, shit, right. There’s a chance he’d go Buddhist or some shit.”. Also the idea of “ancient era 3000 bc Soviet Union” really inadvertently loops back to primitive communism.
