I was surprised the other day to learn Russia was still in ITER at full capacity and delivering their pledged components. apparently, the biggest disruption has been Russian scientists based in Saint-Paul-lès-Durance having difficulty transferring money home. I’d have thought CERN would be even less contentious. Was this even state pressure, or is it STEM PhD turbo libs outrunning their handlers?

They also already kicked out Belarussians, just for the lulz apparently. Anyway, as with every such move i can soon see Even Larger Hadron Collider being build near Moscow or somewhere in Gobi.

i love that i grew up in a ‘post-history’ world of peace because of pax americana. was taught from day one that we live in a civilized, elevated society compared to our history. anyway first sign of conflict from any country that isn’t the states throws that conception into the dust bin, russian intellectuals can go fuck themselves for the crime of living in a different country, lol get rekt
