I think he knows too much for just being allowed to retire. Possible course of action is to be operating on CIA leash until wringed from the last drop of propaganda worth then/or offed and Russia blamed for assassination to wring some extra drops of propaganda from his dead body.

Hitler was also almost assassinated by a bunch of Nazis for not doing a good enough job, I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens first.
