      All my homies hate the bird.

      Yeah, there’s nothing like having a player draw their entire deck on turn 5 with a spellbook or reliquary tower in hand. It got to the point where even experienced, jank-loving CEDH players felt disgusting using it and the card became EVERYWHERE in every format. In EDH; if this creature is your commander you could cast it at any time like with any other commander.

      It’s an issue they’ve had for a long time with dedicating card design to one specific format. It’s different with less competitive formats like pauper or standard; but modern and EDH have a very delicate balance built up by a small (getting bigger) reserved and banned list spanning over two decades.

      One of the few cards banned for “fun” reasons. Surprisingly enough; this card is legal still!

        I don’t know much about Magic. I only followed it briefly right when MtGA became public. I remember people saying that a planeswalker card named Teferi should be banned but that never happened. From what I recall cards being banned is very rare.
