When Descartes was talking about ”I think therefore I am” he was trying to ascertain what knowledge he could be certain of as a base to build truth from, given the hypothetical that an evil demon was manipulating his perception of the world about him so he couldn’t believe his lying eyes and ears. I think tech CEOs are trying to make AI perform the role of that specific demon to twist our understanding of reality to do their hideous bidding. Which is apparently killing your dog.
