    AA24 - Day 6 - 🍎🍏

I was in the mood for some apple post-shave scents, and they worked surprisingly well with Varen.

    Edge Condition Album

Another enjoyable shave. If behavior from this edge follows my pattern with DE blades, I would expect my shaves to begin being slightly less close around one week (tomorrow). I’ll take a microscope photo then to see how the edge is doing. Otherwise, going stropless has had no downside so far. All’s well at the moment.

    Progress Album

The 34C feels nice. Very similar to the Era level 3 which I’ve been using.

So far, after 6 shaves, I’ve been using an average of 2.6 grams of soap per shave. At this rate, I predict I’ll have plenty of soap to make it through the month, but won’t be surprised if the bottom of the tub starts peeking through at some point.

Last travel den shave today, and tomorrow we take the train back home. It’s been great, but I’m looking forward to being home again (and to stropping on a full size strop).

Lathering is becoming… dare I say pleasant?

    06.08.2024 - Refreshing menthol

    • Prep: cold water
    • Razor: Leaf Thorn
    • Blade: snapped BIC Chrome Platinum
    • Brush: RazoRock Beehive 28 mm
    • Lather: Jean & Len - Fresh Menthol Rasierpaste (shaving cream)
    • Post Shave: Thayer’s Original toner; Natura Siberica ASB gel

-> 1 pass head and neck shave.

Sometimes you just need something that works quickly and has the right ingredients.

Today was a hot day, so I craved something with a good dose of menthol. Fresh Menthol does just that, despite smelling like a sports ointment. Those shaving creams in a tin or glass jar also work great for me as a head shaver, since I apply the cream to my scalp like a moisturizer and then just lather up with a wet brush. Low effort, good results. Not great, but sometimes good is all you ask for.
