How could I get started with BSD?

hello,

I want to learn and deep dive into BSD systems. I am a Linux user for more than 3 years and now I am curious to learn and use BSD since BSD is similar to Linux and has binary compatibility.

sadly my laptop wifi card isn’t supported by any BSD systems. so I can’t use it as my daily driver. so where should I go or do to learn more about BSD?

    FreeBSD is perhaps easiest to start with. A USB Ethernet dongle might save the day for Internet connection. You can also try BSD with KVM (Qemu) or VirtualBox in Linux.

    I would say use it in a VM because you can try different BSD’s, and don’t have to worry about making mistakes. You can take what you learn and apply it to when you actually install for real.

    The three major BSD’s are FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and NetBSD. Read up on both of them, and see which one you think would fit your needs. FreeBSD is probably the one with the biggest community, so it’s easier to find help when you need it.
