If youve got parboiled or canned garbanzos and want a crunchy addition to your salads and pitas, microwave them.
i put a serving on a safe plate and microwave for approximately 5 minutes.
Then fry in oil with your favorite seasoning.
Do they just dry out like croutons by doing this?
yep, tho if you want them really crunchy you’ll want to nuke them for 10 minutes and be careful taking them out.
Why microwave if you are going to fry? I’m confused
Dries 'em out a bit, lets the oil soak in. Also it’s not a recipe, it’s just a tip.
yep, it dries out the outer layer so it actually crisps in the frying pan.
That makes sense. I’ve used a convection oven on low & made some similar. This is probably much quicker
I’m with you. Just toss with oil and seasonings, and air fry them shits.
Other folks have answered, but test kitchen has a recipe that explains it as well.
That is interesting. I would not have thought to use a microwave
What a great idea! I think I will try this next time before I roast them to speed up the process
