Mastodon > BlueSky
Lately, it’s harder and harder to see a difference between Mastodon and Bluesky, as both are full of VC ghouls now.
I guess that depends on the Mastodon server you are on.
I’m on a great instance, but that doesn’t help if the instance uses Mastodon software and not a hard fork.
I tried saying that on the thread about mastodon announcing they were making a non profit and I got mass down voted
Knowing what we know now that some Mastodon instances will get paid by Meta for federating with Threads, is it that surprising?
I mean Lemmy thread lol, like a comment thread
The only time I remember seeing thread used in reference to a post were forums. My bad.
what are VC ghouls?
Folks like Biz Stone. https://techcrunch.com/2024/04/29/twitter-co-founder-biz-stone-joins-mastodons-new-u-s-non-profits-board/
ah well, it’s open source and running on hundreds of different servers already… i’m not too worried about it turning into Java or something…
Very cool ghouls
well that sounds kinda positive…
So where do we go to now?
https://gotosocial.org is the most popular alternative, but they are still in alpha stage. I’m open to wait and see how things turn out, but the moves Mastodon is making are not encouraging so far.
It’s …interesting …cause this seems against Mastodons original principles.
