Really neat papers have been published about it and how it fed. In short it probably fed largely on ammonites, but instead of crushing the shells the rotation of the blade into the upper socket of the top jaw would rip the soft parts out of the shell. The related Edestus did similar

There’s still ongoing research, so that might change as far as largely and it still probably fed on other things too, but yeah it’s a really neat adaptation.

Yep It was real Sadly because it was mostly made of cartilage, like all sharks, trying to find a skeleton is really hard.
