Apparently this is mostly being driven by Muslim majority nations, likely due to Palestine.
Although that plays a large part, Muslim Southeast Asia has always been more China friendly than the rest. Even after Western propaganda regarding the Uyghurs.
In the survey itself, I think the more interesting shift is Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar edging closer or slightly surpassing the 50% mark.
Little frustrating Vietnam is still so pro-US but I guess it makes sense from a geopolitical sense
It’s been decades of unchecked propaganda, seeing that turn around is gonna take a while, but I’m sure it will happen.
Oh well, time to start genociding the regions on the map that are too China-friendly until we can get those numbers back in line.
Vietnam with the cinge anglophilia once again…
And i say anglophilia because this isnt really just a case of “we dislike or distrust both parties but i guess Chine less because history or SCS disputes or whatever”. There genuinely is a very positive public opinion towards the US there and US cultural hegemony seems very entranched. To score similarly to the phillippines in such a study something is really wrong with the perception of the US among the population.
That is a HUGE shift for the polls taken only 1 year apart, holy shit.
I’m guessing Europe and Ukraine are a wake up call for a lot of people illustrating what happens to US proxies in the end.
