Unless they’re clearly mask off, I never believe the motives that conservatives say for anything. It’s always a bluff to make them look more morally sound than they really are.

    • “We’re not against women’s rights! We just want to protect the sanctity of life, and that includes life for the unborn!”
    • “We don’t hate LGBT people! We just don’t want radical gender ideology and queer theory corrupting and endangering our children!”
    • “We don’t hate the poor! We just think free-market capitalism can truly do the best job at uplifting everyone!”
    • “We’re not racist! We just think that the left maliciously uses the race card to redirect racial oppression towards whites instead of non-whites! It’s reverse racism!”

And all I can think of whenever righties pull this bullshit…

What frustrates me with these is that you’ve got two major cohorts of Pro-Life types.

One (typically the larger) is genuinely sold on the idea because they’re lodged in this media bubble that screams “Dead Babies! Evil Doctors! Joe Brandon White Genocide!” 25/8. And you can maybe probably kinda reason with them to a point, if you can get over the hump of “Don’t ever trust a leftist, they are demons who only exist to trick you”. At the very least, you can often get them on board with broad shit like health care and housing, specifically for pregnant/nursing mothers (although that can quickly go down the rabbit hole of “Faith Based” whatever).

Still, point is, they’re not just a bunch of sociopaths. They’ve just had their brains buffed smooth by ideology.

But then you’ve got another group - the more activist, more insider, and more cut-throat ideology types - who absolutely know this is a canard to get people to unwittingly vote for tax cuts and trillion-dollar Pentagon throw-away budgets. And you should 100% come at them with a hammer. But they’re so relatively few and far between that you’re the one who comes across as a psycho for impaling one of these vampires to death with a stake.
