Football is part of the right-wing cultural sphere and Taylor Swift isn’t. Right-wing football fans are being forced to acknowledge that Taylor Swift exists, and that causes them dissonance because they’re supposed to live in a bubble. Their natural response is that this must be a conspiracy of some sort. If it’s not some sort of liberal plot to (insert irrational fear here), then it means that they and the things they like live in the same bubble as other people and the things those people like.
