Last time they had a ceasefire israel violated it within hours. And the IDF already re-kidnapped many the people that they released under the hostage deal.

Israel just got shit on by a single RPG strike, so I guess this is an attempt to quell domestic discontent.

Two Israeli officials said the Israeli war cabinet approved ten days ago the parameters of a new proposal for a hostage deal, which are different from past aspects of deals rejected by Hamas and more forward-leaning than previous Israeli proposals.

This stuff really doesn’t happen that quickly.

Gee, I wonder what will happen the second Israel gets their hostages back and the “2 months” is over?

Do you honestly think they’ll wait two months. Once the hostages are released (maybe even slightly before all the hostages are released) the bombing will begin mmw.

Hence the double quotes. During the ceasefire someone in Hamas will stupidly fire a rocket not even in the direction of Israel, someone in Hamas will use it as an opportunity to catch Israel off-guard and fire a rocket towares Israel, Israel will lie and say a rocket was fired at them, or an IDF soldier will fire a rocket and say it was a Palestinian.

In all cases the bouncer from New Jersey will retaliate by slaughtering a massive number of women and children and maybe a combatant or three.

That asshole Netanyahu puts me more on Palestine’s side every day.

Fuck their two months. Permanent ceasefire or nothing.

Seeing how they treat their own hostages, I genuinely believe they’re safer in the hands of Hamas.

I don’t understand why Hamas doesn’t just let them go. Israel has already shown that there’s nothing to be gained from keeping the hostages. The international PR win alone would be worth releasing them at this point.

Hostages create internal turmoil against Netanyahu in the Israeli government. It also ensures that some aid actually reaches Gaza.

Except it’s accomplished none of that. If anything, keeping the hostages reduces any anti-Netanyahu sentiment, as some people will view it as continued justification for the current war.

You still believe this genocide in Gaza has anything to do with hostages? The Israeli government delivers cash payments to Hamas because they need Hamas and they know it. The hostages are just an inconvenience the Israeli government doesn’t want to deal with. The hostages could have all been released back in October if the Israelis really wanted it.

I never even implied that I believe that. In fact, I’ve said nothing about my feelings on the overall conflict.

All I’ve said is that I don’t see why Hamas doesn’t return them (independent of whatever the Israeli government is doing) and take the easy PR win. The hostages are one of the main things that tempering international and internal pressure on the Israeli government.

PR is useless when US Veto anything Israel related. The hostages will ensure the Israeli citizens to think twice before electing Zainoist.
