Most of the “what if” scenarios that I’ve come across focus on what if the Nazis hadn’t attacked the USSR when they did. If Germany was fighting on one front at a time, the question becomes does Germany take the UK, and if so, does the US directly enter the war at all?

There’s large chunks of the world proving that false every day. For the geographically impared, the simple fact that Phoenix has existed for longer than air conditioning, proves that statement false.

And 0F as the low point is equally as useless.

For day to day use, it’s just a single number, no one is doing any conversions, etc, with the number. That was my point. There’s nothing to remember. Do you forget what 72F feels like? Do you have to scale it in your head?

When it comes to a single number on a scale, whatever you grew up with will be more “obvious”. 100F doesn’t give me any more information than 38C does. The whole “base 10” thing only matters if you are actually doing some math to that number.

“Intuitive” is a meaningless metric for a single scaled number. Whichever system you are used to will be the more “intuitive”.

Also, climate can play into which system feels more useful. Where I live, 100F occurs only rarely (and since air conditioning is almost ubiquitous, not something I’d bother looking out for), while 0C is an outdoor temperature that I do need to be aware of for half the year.

Why is it that whenever something is spitting out junk data, those specific characters are involved?

My current tech philosophy is “dumb devices, smart switches”. So many times the “smart” portion of things shits the bed, is rendered obsolete, broken by some other change I made, etc, and then the whole device is rendered useless. Life has gotten so much easier once I dedicated one device to one task.

I’m not even sure what this would mean. Are you talking about everyone having a replicator and no one trades goods and services anymore? An “economic system” is just the umbrella term for whatever method people use to exchange goods and services.

And realistically, what the fuck is the Canadian government going to do? Go to war with Israel and by extension the US?

In this case, none of that applies. I do industrial programming. 99% of the ethernet networks I have to connect to don’t have a router, and nothing is running DHCP. They locked out my ability to manually change my IP address.

I encountered “lawful evil” once. My answer of “I know what the problem is. I know how to fix it. But because you have no clue about what this company actually does to make money, you took away my ability to do it. So now I’m here, wasting both our time” didn’t seem to go over very well.

Are you immortal? Do you have an income vastly higher than the servicing cost of that debt? Do you owe the large a majority of that debt to yourself? Are you able to, if push came to shove, tell your external creditors to go fuck themselves and dare them to so much as try to collect on the debt you don’t feel like paying? If you can’t answer “yes” to all these questions, you aren’t the US and have a debt situation that has absolutely nothing in common with the US debt.
