The China-Laos Railway is a key project under the Belt and Road Initiative. It’s also a landmark in bilateral cooperation and a symbol of friendship between the two countries. As of June, it is estimated to have transported well over 3 million passengers within China and Laos and around 4 million tonnes of freight.     That footage of the construction process of the tunnel was something else! It is nice to see regular people benefit from the constant development of roads and rails, and see their opportunities expand as a result.

      Yeah the work in the tunnel looked so daunting with all the flooding. I’m glad they showed that part. I also was interested in the parts where they explained how they tried to make the design of the tracks better for the safety and well-being of the nearby elephant populations by raising the tracks higher and soundproofing it.
