why wouldn’t you? They will kill you tomorrow if you don’t kill them today. They’re not running or retreating because they are scared, but because they feel they will lose to you now and want to flee before you’ve won so they can keep attacking. Unless they surrender, you keep going until they’re done. It’s awful, dreadful, inhumane, but it’s war and it’s what you have to do to survive.
