Anyway obviously Hamas are a bunch of deranged freaks for taking some stimulants before going into battle. Unlike our wholesome IOF doing peaceful and cool drugs.

Proves once and for all that psychedelics don’t actually make you a good person.

I wish a very traumatizing trip upon this occupier when a rain of missiles begins flying.

I love the writings of Hunter S Thompson but I feel like a lot of people have misinterpreted his work as “do hallucinogenic drugs in inappropriate and unpleasant situations lololololol” I remember there was a whole Vice series where people did it and unsurprisingly they hated it each time.

But to your point yes this person should definitely drop loads of acid during a war that’s a great idea.

he should do all of it at once… maybe he’ll have a real moment of reckoning if the horrors of the reality of what they’re doing could penetrate the granite propaganda encasing his ability to think and feel as a human and not an automaton

LSD can only make you experience new perspectives if you’ve bothered to learn about anything besides your preferred one.

It’s not a drug of peace without the foothold of understanding to begin with.

I don’t recommend it in general unless there’s a specific thing that you’ve tried to understand for a long time and can’t quite get past your inhibitions, it is absolutely not useful for gaining anything outside of what you consciously already know, but for whatever reason can’t “wrap your head around”.

    It’s basically a party drug

Lots of weird comments in this thread trying to assert anecdotal experiences and opinions as a blanket truth. There have been lots of stories where trips have been able to bring the subconscious to the surface and given light to underlying truths hidden beneath

While I still believed I was cis, I displayed lots of behaviours for years that I was obviously trans (debating with my male friends that being a girl is way better than a guy, being happy whenever a friend would say I have the personality of a “cute girl”) but I never once questioned my gender identity. My first trip (shrooms not LSD tho) I experienced explicit gender dysphoria for the first time ever and it was incredibly intense to the point of wishing self mutilation

The intoxicated hyper awareness combined with the increased neuroplasticity can absolutely make one gain useful insight that they’ve never once came close to grasping

I would argue this only validates their claim - there was already a level on which you were arguing for and practicing feminity, but hadn’t connected that to a personal desire and ability to be a girl. You had a conscious awareness of all the aspects, you just hadn’t packaged them together in an understanding of the whole.

You’re describing what I’m saying. It can be useful for concepts you are struggling with, but it isn’t going to introduce anything particularly new to the mix.

My post was in the context of a violent war criminal, for instance, would not automatically see the light unless they were already dealing with guilt on some level.

They can also just be really fun, and help you have extremely deep connections with the people, places and art that you love.

I feel like expecting/requiring anything more than that is ceding ground to the new age cranks of the past and the dipshit techbros who have co-opted these drugs more recently.

Acid showed me “new” things, but they were things like

“besides physical sex and mental gender, you have a spiritual gender and its trans, but you’re still cis on the material plane”

      or

“The universe is profoundly beautiful, but the material plane cast in illusion to make it seem ugly. The awe you feel in an old growth forest is a small glimpse past the illusion.”

      and

“you are in valhalla, but you’re not supposed to be here yet. Acid let you cut the line and the consequences will be disastrous.”

Like, it doesn’t tell you anything true or useful.

It’s actually why I have a hard time with people talking about the spiritual qualities of acid, I only took some a couple of times to party (and it was pretty great no cap) but it for sure didn’t really open any new perspectives for me

So it’s mostly my bias, but I don’t see it as an answer to really any real world problem.
