it’s fucking crazy how these people are still angry at Woodrow Wilson.

where’s the fucking democrat who’s still angry at segregationists even (to be clear this is bad, but it’s wild the difference in views toward history in the parties)

Since trade ignores national boundaries and the manufacturer insists on having the world as a market, the flag of his nation must follow him, and the doors of the nations which are closed must be battered down. Concessions obtained by financiers must be safeguarded by ministers of state, even if the sovereignty of unwilling nations be outraged in the process. Colonies must be obtained or planted, in order that no useful corner of the world may be overlooked or left unused.

—Woodrow Wilson in an unpublished paper of 1907, as quoted in The Rising American Empire (1960) by Richard Warner Van Alstyne, p. 201

90s conspiracy New World Order stuff was heavily based on the idea of the UN being an evil forerunner to One World Government™ that was taking away US national sovereignty. So Wilson was a special villian for trying to start the process earlier with the Leauge if Nations.

Glenn Beck was doing a rip off of Alex Jones Unified Conspiracy Theory/NWO shtick, which was all a rehashing of John Birch Society shit, which was itself a repackaging of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
