Not every conservative talking point is bad. The Moderates views on fiscal responsibility is wise. Now of course they are hypocrites and only say that when Democrats are in power, but ensuring tax payer money is spent efficiently and wisely is a good position to have.

So I wouldn’t dismiss them outright, but on certain issues I would listen less.

They are lying about fiscal responsibility. Their severe increases in debt and outrageous tax cuts only for the richest are proof of that.

      Conservatives are incapable of honesty.

Be good with money is not a political opinion. That’s just basic common sense. It’s a shitty Republican talking point when they say that. It was Reagan that blew up the national debt. Democrats before always kept a reasonable budget while paying down debt. The whole point is that the wealthy didn’t want to pay for social safety nets and made up an issue out of nowhere to lower taxes.

The way you’re phrasing this makes it seem like you think the left’s policies on fiscal responsibility are “spend taxpayer money inefficiently and unwisely”. That statement is an empty platitude unless “Moderates” and the right actually take some kind of action to back it up or even present a plan that reflects a position of fiscal responsibility.

They might have some general points that are decent, but their implementation of those points is horrid at best.

For example, fiscal responsibility. Good general concept. After all, spending $100 when you only have $10 isn’t sustainable. However, the right still tries to spend a huge amount on the military and then gives big tax breaks to the rich under the theory that the rich will eventually let some middle class/poor people have money. Trickle Down Theory has been disproven many times and yet the right keeps going back to it.

To give another one: We need to fix the situation at our southern border. Yes, I agree. Something needs to be done and… Oh, wait. They want to deploy buzzsaw blades, shoot immigrants on sight, and build a giant, expensive wall that won’t do anything but drain money.

You want to really address the issue at the southern border? Expand and reform the immigrant court system. Jon Oliver had a good piece about the problems there. If you fix the immigration courts, we could quickly sort through the incoming immigrants, help settle people who qualify for asylum and kick out anyone who shouldn’t be here. But that would result in more immigrants staying here (which we definitely could handle) and Republicans wouldn’t like that because “more brown people!”

For me the simplest example is teen pregnancy. They say they want to reduce it, but they don’t support contraceptives or sex ed. Just abstinence. Which doesn’t work.

      Wise my ass.

The “moderate” republicans are only fiscal hawks with a democrat president. When they control everything, it’s tax cuts for the rich all the way down- and those Trump era 1%-er tax cuts are a) the largest expansion of us debt and b) one of the driving causes of inequality in the US.

Literally everything they do fucks over the vast majority of Americans- their constituency included- for the. Benefit of the oligarchs whose dicks they suck off.

but ensuring tax payer money is spent efficiently and wisely is a good position to have.

The modern Republican party believes in fiscal responsibility in the same way that the National Socialist party believes in socialism.

“fiscal responsibility” to conservatives means cutting social programs, education, and making it more difficult for women and minorities to access healthcare, while pouring trillions into the military industrial complex and awarding contracts to the companies they own shares in.
