    Revisionism, at least to the Marxist community, just means that a group/country/figure/etc has somehow changed, rewrote, or “revised” the doctrines once held prior.

    For example, Maoists often consider modern day China to be revisionist — they believe China has moved away from Mao’s values and teachings, and revised his plans for the country.

    It is almost always used pejoratively.

        In that case, Lenin was talking about nationalists adopting inauthentic and surface level socialist values, and watering down the revolutionary fervor of marxism. So no, I wouldn’t say its the same thing.

        I’m sure someone more familiar with Maoism could give you a better answer, because the split between Dengism and Maoism really is the best example.
