A lot of people I know think because they support Black Lives Matter then it’s only natural to support the HK rioters too, completely lacking any understanding of class and after years of being told China’s scary and authoritarian.
Care to elaborate?
I have friends who understand supporting Black Lives Matter is important and cheer it on. However they also cheer the Hong Kong rioters on because they don’t see it as anything other than protesting more police brutality. When confronted by Marxists explaining the difference they react with, “Why is police brutality good in this case? It should be opposed everywhere.” All they can see is the propaganda of peaceful protesters being bullied by authoritarian China.
Well what is the difference in your view?
this misses the illegitimacy of the HK protests, though
