If this is confirmed, I don’t think the Secret Service would be able to protect him from Mossad.
Tbh, given their reputation in recent years, I wouldn’t trust the secret service to protect anyone from a serious, skilled, well-organized and -equipped, state-backed covert force. And the state we’re talking about here is considered to have arguably the most effective and ruthless covert foreign intelligence/action service in the world.
Given the last few days, I think we also shouldn’t overestimate the capabilities of Israeli intelligence services.
Let me put this another way: the covert retaliation operation that I’m SURE Mossad is planning this very second is going to make the retribution they did for the 1972 Munich massacre look like a polite conversation.
I understand the thought, but the idea of another country assassinating a former US president on American soil is pretty far fetched. That would almost certainly put that country in a fighting war with the US, regardless of who’s in office.
They probably won’t do anything on US soil, but if he decides to flee prosecution in the US, he’s fair game.
