    It put them within touchdown range in case of a miracle onside kick return. How’s that meaningless?

      Technically their point is that there was so little time that a field goal was going to end the game either way. But if you were already planning on doing a quick play and a field goal, you’re probably not going to change your mind after the first play took a couple more seconds than you expected. And that’s assuming you even think about that, they don’t have a ton of time to make these decisions so you kinda just have to go with your gut a lot of the time.

      There was never going to be any time left on the clock after the kick… so no, you’re wrong.

    Betting aside, points scored can be a tie breaker towards the end of the season. Might as well take some easy points to limit your loss.
