So: Neon and Paradiso excepted, has anyone seen any oceans or rivers in the game as yet?

Someone on Reddit recently posted a pic with their character standing at the side of a river, and the general suggestion was that anyone who hadn’t seen a river hadn’t looked carefully enough.

Accordingly, I went looking. I found a temperate planet with oceans visible from orbit (“YOU CAN’T LAND HERE”), set down on what looked like it should have been beach, and then headed north towards where the ocean should have been.

I eventually ended up standing on a mountain in what ought to have been the sea, looking across a dry valley towards another mountain, not a drop of liquid in sight!

So either I’m reading the maps wrong (entirely possible btw) or the planet generation is on the fritz in my game (can’t rule it out) or the Reddit post was spoofed.

So: has anyone found any oceans or rivers? I’ll post screenshots and maps when I get back to my gaming box tonight.

    I don’t have screenshots, but if I remember correctly, two of the fauna on Gagarin in Alpha Centauri were fish when I surveyed the planet. I ran along a coast for quite a while to get all the scans.

      Good enough for me. More research needed on my part, clearly.

      Turns out I need an outpost site to build an Armillary. I always fancied a beachfront property.
