They seem redundant, selfhost seems to have a couple of rules, but they pretty much do the same thing, right?
I would prefer if they would be merged, it’s confusing and annoying to figure out which of both is bigger, since that’s all that matters. Also naming is nearly the same.
I just can’t see a difference.

Who would have to be asked about this though? Lemmy admins? This community has less subscribers than the other one, but it has proper rules. Both mods have been absent for more than 4 months.
I think the person that did the second community here, was not aware the first one already existed and took the name from a popular subreddit. Also the first one is run by a lemmy.ml site administrator.
I suggest simply subscribing to both and monitor which one comes on top organically. This is a direct consequence of the federated and decentralized nature of Lemmy and the other apps of the fediverse. This gives moderators freedom to enforce whatever rules are instance-specific. If one community is abused by their admins/mods, users can organically start switching to the other one and so on.
