I just checked the area where I have my grain spawn bags, and the temperature was 84f. I quickly moved them to a cooler area. I don’t know how long they were at 84f, but when I checked the temperature a few hours ago, it was only 71f.
This has been my first time successfully getting growth in spawn bags and I don’t want to fuck it up.
Also, when is the best time to transfer them to the fruiting chamber? My spawn bag is almost fully colonized.
They’re cubensis.
84 should be fine. In my experience, they like it anywhere from 75-85. Maybe keep an eye on moisture levels? I’m sure they’re mostly fine, since bags/jars keep the spawn nice and moist.
You can break the spawn up in the bag a little and it will colonize faster. It probably should have been done earlier in the process. Uncolonized grains run a contam risk. I’ve had success just brushing the uncolonized grains off
Good luck!
Thanks. I’ve been regularly disturbing the mycelium. I think I’m ready to start fruiting. I’ll post a pic here in a few minutes.
Thanks!

Are there any spots of it that are like a white solid spot? I think I can see mycelium in the lower right, but it’s a little hard to tell
Also, we do have a mycology comm here. I’ve done my share of grows, but I’m no Paul staments
Yeah, all of the grain has some mycelium on it. Some are more covered than others.
And I’d love to see a growing community develop.
Me too! I’m actually about to jump back in after a bit of a break. I finally have my own house to do it in so no pesky landlords or roommates!
84 won’t be enough to kill it. Shit I’ve had spores left in mailboxes get to 120+ and still turn out ok.
Awesome. Thanks for the info.
