When thousands of fans couldn’t get tickets for megastar Taylor Swift’s summer stadium tour, some diehards paid upwards of 70 times face value to see their favorite artist in person — an outrage that prompted congressional hearings and bills in state legislatures to better protect consumers.

After 10 months, Swift’s U.S. tour is finished, but so are most of the meaningful reforms consumer advocates and industry groups had hoped to pass this year. A proposal has so far failed to advance in the U.S. Senate. Legislation in Colorado was vetoed by the Democratic governor at the urging of some consumer groups.

Dude off topic, but I hate Ticketmaster… Having a terrible time trying to buy tickets right now for a comedian I have always wanted to see live. It won’t accept a debit or credit card, on their end… not mine. I called and checked my banks and there are funds and no locks… So Ticketmaster is jerking my chain. When swifties complained, I thought I ate was just being dramatic… Now… No I get it and see why they are sooo pissed… Cause I am.pissed too .

I just want.to see Gabriel Iglesias live!!

I know the feeling. Seven years ago Canadian band the Tragically Hip were doing their final tour and were going to be in my city on my birthday. I got online to TM an hour early, made sure my info was up-to-date, and started a countdown clock. Right on the second the ticketbox opened I clicked to buy tickets but they were all gone … only secondary market ones were available at triple the price.

Canada was pissed, the gov’t publically stated it was wrong, yet here we are still accepting that TM/LN can do shit like this to us.

Yeah, mine lets me choose the tickets, get to the end and wait for the txt confirmation code, and then it won’t actually process the transaction. I am so frustrated! I have to now go to the actual event space and buy the tickets from our box office… which isn’t an easy feat to do…

Totally going down to buy tickets too… I am so excited for a chance to see Fluffy live, that an internet feature won’t stop me.

In one instance… It’s better to give time to hot button topics.

If we didn’t, Kony 2012 would have been assassinated, Harambe would have a national holiday, and Tiger King would be running for president.

On the other hand… Too much time allows companies to line the pockets of government.

This feels like one of those cases.

Reform what, exactly? I’m not surprised tickets for a hugely popular artist like Taylor Swift would be expensive.
